WHAT DO YOU DO?
I write songs that I then sing.
Does TLC count as a band?
Superstition by Stevie Wonder is one of them.
FAVOURITE FEMALE ARTIST AND WHY?
Lauryn Hill. She's unapologetic.
FORKS IN THE ROAD, HOW DO YOU MANAGE THEM?
When faced with something that needs resolving, I've learnt that a lot, too many voices/differing opinions isn't the best thing. I take advice from a few select people and place their opinions very highly but that above all, my gut (and my managers) are always right.
DESCRIBE YOUR WORK ETHIC?
I work until I burn out. I'm not good at self-care and that's something I'm trying to improve on. I'm okay with it though. I don't mind pushing myself to the edge sometimes, just to see where that edge is.
DO YOU HAVE RITUALS? WOULD YOU SHARE ONE WITH US?
Post-show shower. I find it unnatural to connect with as many people as I do on show days. On stage, meeting people after the show, etc. It's just a lot. It's just strange that as artists we have to be 'on' and then when nothing is happening, we have to be okay with being 'off'. I struggled with the show-to-sleep transition before learning that I need to meditate in the shower or steam bath after a show to help me with the come-down of that.
HAVE YOU COME UP AGAINST RESISTANCE WITH WHAT YOU'RE DOING? HOW DID YOU MANAGE IT?
Everyday but resistance doesn't have to be a bad thing. Personally it makes me look at my work from every angle and I'll have the answers for anyone trying to poke holes well before I've presented it to them. As long as that person is not exhibiting resistance for the sake of just having a thing to say, then I try to see it as an opportunity for dialogue and bettering the final product.
