WHAT DO YOU DO?

"Break fingernails on guitar strings and ride the shoulders of giant men."

IS THIS WHAT YOU ALWAYS DREAMED OF?

"I always dreamed of being on stage, but thought it would be in a pair of tap shoes and a top hat. I still got my dream of being on stage, but now I’m doing it with an electric guitar and knee high boots."

THREE OF YOUR HARDEST MOMENTS?

"Playing electric guitar, whilst singing to an audience for the first time. Keeping band moral up after long and tiresome touring. Persuading a panel of business professionals that having a ‘band’ is a real business."

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO NEXT?

"Everywhere. I want our live shows to be seen all across Australia and the world."

Forks in the road, how do you manage them?

"By staying level headed. Avoiding drinking, late nights and substances that affect my emotional stability. Looking at the bigger goal and keeping day-tight compartments (not worrying about what has already happened or what will happen if I make the wrong decision)."

DESCRIBE YOUR WORK ETHIC

"Business before pleasure."

DO YOU HAVE RITUALS?

"Before every show I gather the girls and we hold hands in a circle and sing ‘Praise you’ by Fatboy Slim."

DO YOU HAVE A GIRL GANG?

"My band and my management and booking team are my girls gang. Everyone in the RACKETT team believe in our dream and that’s what binds us together."

HAVE YOU COME UP AGAINST RESISTANCE WITH WHAT YOU'RE DOING?

"I’ve never come across anyone who has seen a live show and resisted the urge to stomp along."

WHAT MAKES YOUR WANT TO GIVE UP?

"Nothing makes me want to give up. I am constantly problem solving but quitting is never an option."

WHAT WOMEN DO YOU LOOK UP TO?

"PJ Harvey, Alison Mosshart, Mother Teresa."

DO YOU HAVE SECRETS TO FOLLOWING YOUR PASSION?

"I’ve tried so many different creative fields, everything from being in chorus line to a make-up artist. Choose a field that you have the strongest skills in. For me that was identifying that I have a unique and strong voice and enjoy creative writing."

WHAT WERE YOU LIKE AS A KID?

"I was always wanting to perform, creating pantomimes, musicals, I was always on stage. This hasn’t changed."

WHAT WERE YOU LIKE AS A TEENAGER?

"As a teenager I was a nightmare for my parents. I was full of resistance and anger. This lasted a few years and I came out of it with a tremendous amount of gratitude for what they endured."
