DESCRIBE YOUR WORK ETHIC
Cecil: "Work hard, play hard?! Nah... Not to sound overly clichéd but I guess my work ethic could be perceived much like your average household Lemon Meringue Pie... Firstly, there's a hard AF biscuit base - gotta have a steady base to work with here. Strong, maybe fierce... but not flaky, never flaky... The fluffy meringue top can represent being an overall nice person - crack a few jokes over the computer screens at work, ask how the family's doing over a tub of hummus and crackers, listen to some #adco out of politeness - all that stuff. But there are long hours a lot of the time and hyper activeness comes into play, so there's definitely sugar involved. Finally, the lemon cream - the zest will surprise you, there's a fair amount of tang here, bit of an edge... and will send you a daily YouTube video that only they find hilarious (everyone needs a laugh!). Solid if you ask me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ "
DO YOU HAVE A GIRL GANG? WHY DO YOU LOVE THEM?
S: "I actually find the term 'girl gang' and its implications problematic because it suggests that women are constantly battling, or needing support in the fight, or rallying troops to tear down the partiarchy. It's also symptomatic of feminism as a marketing tool. We're all in it together at the end of the day - but I'll talk about my bandmates here in any case, in the context of my 'General Life and Soul Family' though. I love them because we all support each other in taking risks and challenging ourselves through this music thing we are doing. They are all strong, capable, independent women and we are lucky to have found each other."
WHAT WOMEN DO YOU LOOK UP TO?
G: "Eileen Myles, Susan Sarandon, Diane Di Prima."
DO YOU HAVE ANY SECRETS TO FOLLOWING YOUR PASSION?
G: "Don't let the f*&^!%! get you down."
WHAT WERE YOU LIKE AS A KID? HAS ANYTHING CHANGED?
A: "I’ve changed a little – I was probably more articulate then (I have VHS proof). But I think I’m reverting to a lot of my childhood tricks as I get older. I had an antagonistic streak brewing for a while but then I scared it out of myself, unfortunately. Something to do with ripping up a fence at school and then running away to hide from primary school discipline enforcers. Currently on a mission to retrieve some of that gumption, along with forgetting how to use my hands and brain in an adult way so I can really rip into the naïve art scene."
